Sarlat

Capital of the PERIGORD NOIR, Sarlat is a superb medieval city with its architecture and history dating back to the Middle Ages. This city of Art and History has an exceptional heritage to see and to revisit. You will stroll through the maze of medieval streets that have inspired many films (Joan of Arc, Les Visiteurs…). You can taste excellent ice creams … and book your evenings in one of the restaurants of the historic centre.

Must-sees in Sarlat

✓ The façade of the BOETIE house (opposite the cathedral, Place du Peyrou)

The church of Saint Marie and its gigantic gateway housing a covered market. You can take a panoramic lift, climb 27 metres and admire the city.

The latter is set up every Saturday and Wednesday from 8 am to 1 pm. On Saturdays, the installation takes place in the alleys of the historic centre and also along the rue de la République. You will discover the local products, crafts: the strawberry of Périgord, the chestnut, the walnut and its excellent cakes, the foie gras, the black truffle, the duck breast, the wines of DORDOGNE, the Cabécou

Be careful, the parking spaces are quickly taken by storm. Do not hesitate to come early in the morning or to go up to the car parks in the north of the town.

The “Voie verte”

Voie verte SarlatThis 50 km cycle path between SARLAT and CAZOULES with a diversion to GROLEJAC has been laid out on the old railway line. The route is mostly flat, simple and easy for the whole family (it is accessible at 8 KM from our campsite LE MOULIN DE CAUDON). You will discover several typical villages such as CARSAC, AILLAC, CALVIAC, ROUFFILLAC … Several picnic areas and restaurants are at your disposal. Near the river, you can also refresh yourself in the Dordogne.

The departure of the VOIE VERTE is on the Avenue du PERIGORD. You can rent a BICYCLE, mountain bike, electric mountain bike… at LIBERTY CYCLE. Excellent ride to make in family!
