23 January 2025

La Roque-Gageac is a picturesque village in the Périgord Noir, located about 10 kilometers from Sarlat-la-Canéda, in the Dordogne. Leaning against a south-facing cliff, its stone houses with slate or brown tile roofs are reflected in the waters of the Dordogne, offering an exceptional panorama.
Among the remarkable sites of the village, the Fort de La Roque-Gageac, a medieval fortification from the 12th century, overlooks the river and offers a breathtaking view of the valley. The village is also home to an exotic garden where palm trees, banana trees, fig trees, cacti and bamboo thrive, thanks to its favorable microclimate.
Listed among “The Most Beautiful Villages of France”, La Roque-Gageac is a popular destination for its authentic charm and historical heritage. Visitors can enjoy gabarre rides on the Dordogne or hikes to discover the surrounding area.
