The Sarlat – Cazoulès Greenway:
The Sarlat-la-Canéda region offers cycle paths that are ideal for cycling enthusiasts, including the Sarlat-Cazoulès Greenway. Built on a former railway line, this safe, tarmaced path stretches for around 25.3 km, linking Sarlat to Cazoulès via picturesque villages such as Carsac-Aillac, Aillac and Calviac-en-Périgord.
The route, often shaded, runs along the Dordogne Valley and crosses varied landscapes, including rocky areas and forests. A junction allows you to reach Groléjac by crossing the Dordogne on a viaduct. Information panels line the route, offering historical and geological details about the region.
For those who wish to rent bikes, services are available near the starting point, located near the center of Sarlat, accessible via the train station. The city of Sarlat has also developed urban cycle paths, facilitating access to the Voie Verte from the city center.
In short, the Voie Verte Sarlat-Cazoulès offers an enriching cycling experience, combining physical activity and discovery of the natural and cultural riches of the Périgord Noir.
